Since I know next to nothing about Brooklyn, I need help.
Where do you work? I live off the G and have a pretty solid 40 minute commute into the city (to Soho, but that includes times when I get into the belly of the subway and I am sadly watching the train pull away without me). The L can be just fine—unless you’re using it during Rush hour back to Brooklyn, or on any given Saturday morning (read: yesterday) when someone decides to throw themselves in front of it (a suicide could set you back a few hours).
Use a broker, try streeteasy.com. They’ll be able to hold your hand through location questions.
I need to find an area to live where that’s pretty close to the L train, and can have a studio/1BR for around $1500. I’ve been looking around Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Bushwick, and Bed Stuy, but honestly, I have no sense of location at all.
Though, I’m definitely not opposed to having roommates.
HELP ME PLEASEEEEE.

I agree with Mr. Waskom. The R train is where it’s at.

As a 6’6 male, Bushwick is the only place in America I have ever felt unsafe (if that counts for anything). The L train is also vastly unreliable so don’t be afraid for something on the 1/2 and transferring as it might take you even less time.

I think you’re on the right track—I’d concentrate the search around Greenpoint and the Lorimer/Graham L stops. I could check my building (in Eastern Williamsburg on the edge of Bushwick) and see about availabilities.
